Yin and Yang are alternate names for the feminine and masculine energies in all of us. It’s important to balance these two contrasting halves of ourselves, and can be as simple as scheduling activities into our lives that are equal measures of each. The feminine energy is connected to receiving, recharging, and nurturing practices such as self-care, meditation, and relaxing while the masculine energy is connected to giving, action, and doing practices such as exercise, movement, and working.
I was feminine-heavy and needed more masculine energy in my life to ignite that fire in my belly, to make myself feel more driven and motivated. So I added boxing to my weekly routine to fill that missing masculine presence in myself, as well as yin yoga, a relaxing and restorative slow yoga practice, which nourishes my feminine side.
